In EVE? In EVE you are a cute adorable newbro. My wife still plays it but does single player content because of that reason. Which is stupid because in Wow you barely lose anything when you wipe. You will not get help as a newbro, you will get a ton of shit on you. The playerbase are so used to be playing for years that the concept of new blood is weird. Forget about doing endgame content unless you live 20 hours a day to play the game, and so on. Everyone expects you to know everything and don't dare to make a mistake or prepare for a shitstorm. They not only mistreat newbies, it is impossible to be "new" in Wow in 2017, simply put. I have tried multiple times to come back to WoW and it I can't stand it. Because we know its hard and we know how important is to have new blood. Despite all the banter, all the propaganda, all the koolaid, all the lets get mad about minor things the truth is that EVE is one of the best places for a newbie player to be into. Nothing ever comes closer to the feeling of massive and multiplayer than this game.īut beyond that, even though EVE has fame to have a toxic playerbase, I have found that it is quite the opposite. We can talk for hours about the feels on big battles and the narrative of epic stuff but the way players can set their footprint in EVE is not possible to be compared, at all, with anything else that exists. This is probably why there is nothing like EVE out there. You can make complex organisations and create content for the people, you can be a part of an alive universe that feels way too real at times. I am biased as I have spent most of my time doing space politics but EVE is in truth about human relationships. The only game that feels it is a living universe made of people. There is one major thing that, to me, makes EVE stand out, beyond the nuances of gameplay and stuff.ĮVE is the only MMO that truly feels massive. If you are someone whom wants an all encompassing gaming experience, choose Eve.īoth are good games, but which one is better for you? If you are looking for a relaxing game that you can play without stress 95% of the time, choose WoW.

My conclusion is that each game has a spot in the MMO genre. In WoW, you can run dungeons for hours without saying a word. I can't begin to describe the generosity the Eve Online community has shown me. Eve Online makes close friends and strong enemies almost immediately. The WoW community feels like a bunch of strangers unless you have been in the same guild for years. The difference in communities is the biggest difference. It's a sobering experience, but it makes the game play much more immersive and endearing. For WoW players, imagine losing gear every time you wiped on a raid boss. In Eve, you lose important assets forever. Being lazy in a WoW city or Eve station can lead down the road to burn-out.

The downside is, sometimes when you are online, you find it difficult to go out and get the available content. You can receive messages straight to your phone begging for help from players. Raids helped, but I rarely felt lost in a massive world. It was a simple way to get what I wanted, but it removed the multi-player feel from the game. I can remember waiting patiently in a major WoW city while a dungeon Que held my place in line. WoW lets you find action with a few buttons, Eve Online is quite different. The rookie learning curve isn't as bad as I was led to believe, but it isn't as easy as WoW. Even in the secure areas, you need to know what's going on around you. It has a wide variety of addons and a very forgiving learning curve.Įve Online takes concentration in the beginning and a fair bit of awareness throughout the entire gaming session. WoW is insanely easy to learn, and not impossible to master. Hopefully, this will give clarity to people looking for a new adventure. I have been playing for 40 days and I'd like to share my thoughts regarding both games. I searched the MMO genre after my WoW time and stumbled upon Eve Online. They produce a great line of products and I highly recommend trying any of their games.

It had lost it's luster in my eyes and felt stale. I played that game until the beginning of September. I started playing WoW when I was 15 and progressed into raiding at the same age. Eve Online and World of Warcraft both reside in the MMO genre, but I struggle to find any similarities beyond that classification.
